So you’ve nabbed a bargain on your Jetstar flight and you’re gearing up for a well-deserved getaway. While flying to a new destination can be exciting, it can also come with some challenges from wrangling with your suitcase, to dealing with travel sickness in transit and beating jet lag once you arrive. These simple tips will make your trip a whole lot easier, whether you’re city-hopping from Sydney to Perth or flying across the world to one of Jetstar’s overseas destinations like China, Japan or Honolulu.

Packing

If you’ve booked an Economy Starter Jetstar fare, you’ll have a carry on allowance of 7kgs, but no checked luggage, meaning you’ll need to be strategic when you’re packing your bag. Even if you’ve booked checked luggage, it’s always easier to travel light. Here’s some tips to keep your luggage under the weight limit.

  • Place your shoes at the bottom of the case and stuff them full of small items, then tightly roll your clothes and layer them on top.
  • Group items together according to use, not type. For example your pyjama pants should be packed alongside your eye mask and your bedtime book, not with your daytime clothes. Use smaller bags or the pockets of your suitcase to group items together.
  • If you’re heading somewhere chilly, vacuum pack your puffy snow jackets and bulky winter clothes to save room.
  • If you’re buying a new bag, make sure you check how much it weighs – some small bags can weigh 4kgs or more, which is over half of your total carry on allowance.

Jet Lag

A bad bout of jet lag can put a serious damper on your holiday. While switching time zones is always likely to leave you feeling a little tired, taking these simple steps before, during and after your flight can help you hit the ground running when you arrive at your destination.

  • Prioritise getting a good night’s sleep in the days leading up to your flight and aim to sleep as much as possible whilst on board. Doing some aerobic exercise before your flight and limiting screen-time on board should help you drift off.
  • Eat small, healthy meals on-board and avoid caffeine, alcohol or sleeping pills.
  • Wear two watches or set two clocks on your phone – one for local time and one for the time at your destination. This will help you mentally prepare for the change in time zones.
  • When you arrive, get plenty of daylight sun exposure and try to get up at the same time every morning to help reset your body clock.

Happy Customers!

Best place to park near the airport if you are travelling domestically or overseas. Prices are reasonable but their customer service is what makes them shine! Always a pleasant experience!

It's very close to the airport, the shuttle service worked beautifully, and it was reasonably priced. However, above all I was impressed by the friendliness of every employee I met working there.
